Founder of Egg Online Bank and First Direct joins BeMyInterviewer.co.uk

London, May 2008 – Mike Harris, founder of banks Egg and First Direct, has joined www.bemyinterviewer.co.uk - Jobsite’s interactive video-based website which enables jobseekers to practise for interviews. He joins leading bosses including Duncan Bannatyne, Ruth Badger and Jacqueline Gold in asking candidates key interview questions on topics including money, experience, personality and selling yourself.

Launched in February 2008 BeMyInterviewer offers a completely new way to prepare for interviews. Mike’s addition to the site coincides with the exciting milestone of the 100,000th unique visitor to the site, with over 900,000 videos streamed. BeMyInterviewer links through to vacancies in the interviewers’ companies and also to related vacancies advertised on Jobsite, together attracting almost 13,000 candidates following their interaction with the interviewers on the site.

BeMyInterviewer is updated regularly with new interviewers and is a helpful preparation tool for recruiters who are sending candidates to interviews. Equally, HR Directors and those responsible for interviewing will find BeMyInterviewer a useful resource in learning how their peers conduct interviews and get the most out of candidates.

As the latest new addition to BeMyInterviewer, Mike Harris is ideal for any candidate looking to go into the banking, finance or IT industries. Mike Harris is now the Executive Chairman of online identity experts Garlik, who develop services to help control and protect your personal information and identity online. He’s also Chair of Group Innovation at RBS.

Commenting on the skills involved in interviewing, Mike Harris says;

“You look for slightly different things in a candidate if you’re interviewing for small start up companies than if you’re recruiting for a large company, but for me the fundamental principles are the same. When I’m interviewing I’m always looking to ascertain whether the candidate is going to fit in and add to the talent and energy of the team they’re joining and the wider culture of the company. I also need to find out whether they have the skills and experience we’re looking for. I think preparation for interviews is crucial in being able to impress on the day and that’s why I’m delighted to be part of BeMyInterviewer and to have a role in helping candidates prepare for interview by providing a unique insight into the interview process.”

About BeMyInterviewer.co.uk
BeMyInterviewer.co.uk is an interactive video-based website, which lets jobseekers practise for interviews with some of the UK’s leading bosses. It’s a completely new way to prepare for interviews.

Some of the country’s best known business leaders and expert interviewers are present on the site, including Duncan Bannatyne (serial entrepreneur and star of Dragons’ Den), Ruth Badger (businesswoman, consultant and runner up on The Apprentice), Jacqueline Gold (CEO of Ann Summers and Knickerbox), Keith Potts (CEO of Jobsite.co.uk), Andy Hart (MD of Associated Northcliffe Digital) and Kirsty MacCulloch (Senior Project Manager for Hobsons/GET).

Streamed videos enable users to select interview questions based on different criteria, such as interviewer or question theme. Each interviewer has their own distinct style and area of expertise and their questions cover areas such as money, experience, ambition and selling yourself. Interviewers also give their personal insight into the question, explaining why they asked it and what would make a good answer.

The site also allows users to search for jobs and share their interview concerns in an interview surgery. Jobsite will be updating the site regularly with more interviewers joining in the coming months.
