REC News Updates

‘REC APPOINTS NEW CHAIRMAN OF IT & COMMS’

The Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) has appointed Dave Pye as the champion for its IT and Comms Sector.

In this new role, Dave will be using his extensive experience within the technology division of the recruitment industry to provide support, assistance and expertise to REC members within the sector and also to encourage new members to join.

Having started a career in sales in the USA, Dave moved to the recruitment industry in which he has worked for more than 20 years in both the UK and Europe.

Until May last year, he was Managing Director of Spring Technology. He has also worked for two niche recruitment companies, one of them the Baddow Hall Group which he ran with a partner in the early 1990s.

Dave’s first major venture with the REC will be as part of the team organising the second IT & Comms Sector Conference on Thursday 5th October at the IME in London.

An established speaker and commentator within the industry, Dave said: “This is a very exciting time to be joining the REC especially with all the work currently being undertaken within its 12 sector groups.

“Within the IT & Comms team, I will concentrate on liaising closely with members especially the smaller agencies and independent operators as well as the large companies.

“Working alongside the membership will be an opportunity to bring to their attention the range of services the REC offers, and also to attract new members to this dynamic organisation. I also want to build new relationships with potential partners, and maybe even launch the first awards for this particular sector of this industry.”

Jeff Brooks, Chair of the REC’s IT and Comms Sector, said: “I am delighted that Dave has joined us and will be bringing his own high quality of professionalism to this role within the sector. I have known Dave for several years and I know he will provide tremendous value to our membership.

“The IT & Comms division is the largest sector within the REC, which is the recruitment industry’s biggest voice. Through Dave’s proven expertise, we plan to increase that representation from a third to half the industry.”

Notes to Editors:

About the REC The REC is the association for the £24.5 billion private recruitment and staffing industry in the UK, with over 8,000 recruitment agencies and over 5,500 recruitment consultants in membership. All members must abide by a Code of Professional Practice.

There are 1.2 million temporary workers registered with UK agencies, and up to 1 million temps are deployed in industry, commerce and the public services every day. Temps, from professionally qualified and highly skilled workers to first time market entrants and returners, are a valuable and flexible component of the UK labour market.

The REC is able to speak on all aspects of the labour market, from employment legislation and workplace issues, to skills shortages, implications for the economy of changes in employment levels and the benefits of temporary work.
