P&K Recruitment Attain DfES/REC Quality Mark Status

P&K Recruitment, a specialist education recruitment agency, has been awarded the DfES/REC Quality Mark.

This accolade demonstrates that they have achieved the highest standard of recruitment selection and vetting of supply teachers.

The Quality Mark forms an integral part of the continuing work by the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC), the trade body for the UK's recruitment industry, whose members must abide by a Code of Professional Practice.

P&K Recruitment, which has offices at Penistone Road, Sheffield and Sutton Street, Birmingham, is a member of the REC and was established three years ago by Karl Housley, Paul Gallagher and Neil Gallagher. Since then, they have constantly strived to provide the best quality service for everyone with whom they work alongside.

Director Karl Housley said:

“We are very proud to hold the Quality Mark in addition to the British Accreditation Bureau ISO 9001 Certificate.

We want to build on our success now in providing the best quality recruitment service. To that end, we want to extend our sincere thanks to all the schools and teachers who have supported us along the way. ”

Kevin Green, Chief Executive of the REC, said:

“P&K should be congratulated for excelling themselves in reaching the optimum standard for recruiting supply teachers. This standard is becoming increasingly recognised within the industry as guaranteeing effective provision of supply teachers who are so crucial to the lifeblood of schools. ”

Supply teachers make an increasingly important contribution to the smooth running of schools. At the same time, it is essential to ensure that the supply staff that are being placed within the schools are of the required standard and have been correctly vetted by the agency supplying them.

Within this context, the Government's Quality Mark Scheme plays a crucial role by providing a recognisable quality threshold and by promoting high standards in the provision of supply teachers.

Notes for Editors:
  • The Quality Mark was launched in July 2002 as a joint initiative between the Department of Education and Skills and the Recruitment and Employment Confederation
  • By using agencies who have been granted the Quality Mark, schools know they are being supplied with high quality supply staff who have been correctly vetted and that as clients, they are receiving an informed and transparent service
  • The Quality Mark sets 19 minimum standards for agencies and LEAs to reach in areas such as the recruitment and selection of supply teachers; continual performance monitoring of the teacher; ensuring legal obligations are observed; the provision of accurate and timely information to schools and staying at the forefront of changes in the teaching sector
  • To date, 87 agencies and one LEA are holders of the Quality Mark while over 30 including four LEAs are currently in the process of applying.
