REC News Updates

‘MARCIA APPOINTED TO EURO-CIETT BOARD

Marcia Roberts, the newly appointed Chief Executive Officer of the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC), has now been elected to be a member of the Euro-CIETT board.

In this role, Marcia will represent the interests of the UK's £24.5 billion recruitment industry on the eight strong board of Euro-CIETT, the European Confederation of Private Employment Agencies.

Euro-CIETT is the representative body for the European recruitment industry, which is made up of national federations from other European countries and the largest multi-national agencies. Euro-CIETT takes forward the industry's lobbying activities in Brussels and therefore plays a crucial role in helping to achieve positive outcomes on key issues such as the Agency Workers Directive and the forthcoming EU Green Paper on Labour Law.

Of her appointment to Euro-CIETT, Marcia said:

“It is good news for the UK that the REC is at the heart of European industry lobbying. It is also good news for British industry that we are in a strong position to work collectively with our European partners to promote the good work the employment industry carries out across Europe, while at the same time, leading the call to reduce red tape and bureaucracy.”

Notes to Editors:

About the REC The REC is the association for the £24.5 billion private recruitment and staffing industry in the UK, with over 8,000 recruitment agencies and over 5,500 recruitment consultants in membership. All members must abide by a Code of Professional Practice.

There are 1.2 million temporary workers registered with UK agencies, and up to 1 million temps are deployed in industry, commerce and the public services every day. Temps, from professionally qualified and highly skilled workers to first time market entrants and returners, are a valuable and flexible component of the UK labour market.

The REC is able to speak on all aspects of the labour market, from employment legislation and workplace issues, to skills shortages, implications for the economy of changes in employment levels and the benefits of temporary work.
