Cocoabean Recruitment Launch Tree Appeal for National Temps Week

CELEBRATING THE ROLE OF TEMPORARY WORKERS - THE GREEN WAY

Cocoabean Recruitment in Norwich will be launching its green plan on the back of 'National Temporary Workers Week' (2nd - 6th June 2008), by linking up with Tree Appeal and planting one hundred trees to celebrate their temporary workers.

Cocoabean's aim is to plant 500 trees over the next 12 months. After the NTW week, their Green plan will continue as they plant one tree for every temporary, permanent or temporary-to-permanent placement made. The trees will be placed in schools across Norfolk, helping to create woodland habitat, increasing bio-diversity and supporting environmental education.

‘National Temporary Workers Week’, organised by REC (Recruitment & Employment Confederation) aims to raise the profile of temporary workers and their contribution to the UK economy. Recruitment equates to 1.4 million temp workers per year plus a spending of £26.6 billion pounds to help facilitate business growth throughout the UK.

Mary Pratt, director of Cocoabean said:

“Cocoabean was built on “green” foundations and we are at all times trying to protect our carbon footprint coupled with contributing back to worthwhile causes such as Tree Appeal. What better way to spread the “bean” than with planting the longest living organisms on the planet. ”

Ken Whitley from Tree Appeal said:

"We are delighted that Cocoabean is going to spread 'green thinking' throughout Norfolk to celebrate National Temporary Workers week by joining forces with Tree Appeal, which helps responsible organisations like them reduce their environmental footprint by planting native British broad-leaved trees. ”

More information about Tree Appeal can be found at www.treeappeal.com.

Anita Holbrow, Director of Marketing at the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) said

"We are never ceased to be amazed by some of the ideas our members have for promoting National Temporary Workers Week, but this year, Cocoabean has raised the bar even higher with its Tree Appeal. The very fact that up to 500 trees, each representing a temporary worker, are being planted over the next year is a fantastic way of recognising their contribution while putting something permanent back in the local community. ”

Cocoabean's Temporary Team Leader, Jenna Barnes explained:

"Temporary workers are an important contribution to our local economy. Not only can temps bring short-term specialist skills to your businesses but they also prevent additional stress caused by permanent staff being sick or on holiday. ”

Mandy Nicholls, Customer Services Manager at Banner Business Supplies said:

"At Banner temporary workers have always been an important part of business growth and development, most often resulting in offers of permanent positions at the end of their temp to perm contract. This method of recruitment has proven to be hassle free and cost effective for us as a business and we are proud to be working in partnership with Cocoabean to promote the elite Temp Workers Week on behalf of the REC.

As a leading business supplies, managed services and integrated supply chain company in the UK and Ireland, our aim is to provide customers with a truly comprehensive range of environmentally-preferred products and services. These products are showcased in the o2o Green Guide which is available through our website: www.office2office.co.uk. In addition, by working with Cocoabean, we are able to give something back to the community local to our head office in Norwich, by supporting the Tree Appeal. ”

Local businesses on temporary workers:-

"Here at TSO, we find using the services of temporary staff brings us many benefits. Whilst the majority of our staff are in permanent positions, many of those staff came to us originally as temporary staff working on a temp to perm basis. We find this suits our business needs as it allows both TSO and the temporary staff to see whether the job and the person are right for each other.

We utilise a flexible resource to enable us to ensure our performance standards for our customers are met through the peaks and troughs of work load demands. It also helps eliminate some of the risks inherent with traditional recruitment due to Cocoabean handling all recruitment processes from cradle to grave. ”
Penny Orford, Customer Services Manager, The Stationary Office

"At May Gurney we use Cocoabean to recruit our temps as Cocoabean have taken the time to come into my business and spend as long as it takes understanding exactly what is required in the role they are filling.

Temporary workers are a superb way to cover illness or as a stop-gap ordinarily, but with the current economic uncertainties temporary workers help keep the operating costs down. Other benefits include being spared the expense of locating, training and hiring as well as payroll issues being dealt with by a third party. ”
Zarvin Wildey, South West Area Manager at May Gurney Ltd.

"In cases of sickness, maternity leave or at times when higher productivity is required temps provide a fantastic and flexible resource. Enabling May Gurney to focus on giving the best customer service and performance, whilst striving to become the best place to work.”
Martine Twigge, HR Assistant at May Gurney Ltd.
