Kaka To Stay at Milanback to blogs home >by Logan Parker Former FIFA World Player of the Year, Kaka has apparently decided to stay at his current club, AC Milan, in so doing, turning down the reported wages on offer of 500,000GBPP per week from the worlds richest football club, Manchester City. This has been reported in news sources such as The Times, MSN Online, The Telegraph and more but none have held this story up as a beacon of hope. Of course Kaka is already rich having earned millions from AC Milan in the years he has been there. Many football players -many nowhere near as proficient and highly regarded as kaka- are rich, millionaires in fact. This doesn't stop the likes of Craig Bellamy hoiking his services to the bidder willing to pay him the most money, showing near zero loyalty to anybody but his self and his bank manager. I'm sure footballers around the world will angrily defend themselves in that their playing careers are relatively short and that they have to maximize their earnings whilst they can. This is valid.... to a degree. How can the Craig Bellamy's of the top leagues hope to leave a legacy as a gifted player who was highly regarded if all they seem to chase is limited self glory and financial wealth? Mr Bellamy has reportedly signed with Kaka's suitor, Man City for an 'undisclosed sum' -whatever that means! He could have been one of the spearheads of West Ham's survival in the Premier League this season. His meek and mild former manager, Gianfranco Zola, seemed powerless to stop Bellamy jumping ship after the striker demanded a transfer to Tottenham (but has ended up at Man City). What other compelling motive could Bellamy have for opting for Man City other than a pocket-swelling signing on fee and a wife-pleasing pay raise? Contrast his behaviour to that of Ryan Giggs who celebrated his 35th birthday recently and has said in interviews over the years that he is embarrassed by the large sums that top players get paid. Mr Giggs has also been at Manchester United his entire professional career and is the most decorated English leagues professional of all time. Well done, Kaka. A hero to millions in his homeland of Brazil who openly promotes his devotion to Jesus and Christianity. If he'd accepted the gargantuan offer from Man City how would he have juxtaposed such needless greed with his faith? He has certainly restored a little faith in the casual observer that money is not the master of every player. back to blogs home > To check main articles home CLICK HERE > Back to Recruitment Times homepage CLICK HERE > |
