Recruitment Sector Vs The Premier Leagueback to blogs home >by The Watcher Arsene Wenger has had a very good week. His young side beat the reigning Champions League holders, AC Milan in Italy, the San Siro stadium no less. Not only that but Arsenal thoroughly outclassed Milan to the extent that some of the home supporters applauded Arsenal. Does the recruitmet sector spend as much time nurturing recruiting talent as the Premier League? Not by a Hubble telescope-requiring long shot! The victory is yet more vindication that Arsene Wenger has few equals in terms of nurturing and significantly improving upon talent in both young and seasoned players. Since Mr Wenger arrived at the old Highbury he has set out a vision and executed with eclat that deserves admiration in other walks of life, particular business. Alex Ferguson has similar merit as a sourcer of precocious talent and developing it. There is ready proof in Messrs C. Ronaldo Paul Scholes, Giggsy et al -all of whom have blossomed at Man Utd. Finding, hiring, nurturing and retaining talent that can improve your organisation is a key challenge, particularly in a sales dominated arena such as recruitment. How many agencies and consultancies foster development and brilliance amongst their personnel? My background is in IT and as a jaded former contractor, I still curl my lip in disdain at the memory of the ultra annoying IT recruitment consultants who would hassle me with false dawn promises and faux assertions about my skillsets for a 'perfect job' they have that I would be 'perfect for'. They can take a long walk of a very slippery and downward gradient short pier! How many of these hungry salesmen -and sales women- were committed to a high level of integrity and candidate care that would reflect well upon their agency? Is there room for committment to a company's intended high standards when placements and commissions are the bottom line? Why don't Recruitment to Recruitment agencies have scouting departments that search for proven and precocious talents. I do mean scouting, NOT poaching. By scouting, targets would be assessed over a period of time and their suitability analysed. Mr Wenger would be an ideal head of a recruitment agency -he is one already but footballers are not much cop at recruiting Oracle DBAs. back to blogs home > To check main articles home CLICK HERE > Back to Recruitment Times homepage CLICK HERE > |
